ST. PAT'S

We know, we know, we know. The Dig has vowed to stay out of the futile St. Patrick’s Day parade debate, as many who have only so much as peered down that rabbit hole have immediately turned to gay stone.

Needless to say, virtually every other outlet in town has had a field day with the back-and-forth, reporting on the hideous rhetorical orgy between John “Wacko” Hurley, Mayor Marty Walsh, and MassEquality, a self-described “group organized to preserve same sex marriage equality,” with a gusto typically reserved for covering post-championship season openers.

Unlike most years, 2014 has actually brought some interesting twists and turns to the annual homophobic fandango. Extra props to Billy Baker at the Boston Globe for even offering some new angles. Otherwise, there’s also been a whole lot of lame reporting on both subjective and objective fronts, as could be expected.

For the real action – to get a better taste of just how ugly things have gotten on the ground – we looked to the sleaziest journalistic frontier of all, the Boston Herald, and cherry-picked the most disgusting reader comments we could find. Here they are, broken down into four categories: “I love gay people, but …,” “The gay agenda”; “Heterosexual pride,” and “Democrats are homo-Nazis.” Be sure to read near a shower.

I LOVE GAY PEOPLE, BUT …

I have friends that are gay… This kind of militant behavior that this group is pushing embarrasses them. They look at these groups as setting back the real rights of gays like being able to be there for end of life decisions and insurance issues. I don’t care if you get married, I don’t care that you like to put a penis in someone’s anus, or use rubber dildo’s on your partner for sexual gratification. Just because you like the same sex does’t make you different… get it??? What happens in the bedroom is your business …I DON”T CARE. This is about Irish heritage! Enough IS ENOUGH How bad do you feel about your choices that you need to destroy everything related to religion and heritage?–gssl

I have no problem with gay people but keep it to yourself. They have an agenda that is “in your face and you better like it” . Enough, live your life but I don’t need to hear about it. If me and my wife joined a wife swapping group, is it important for me to march in a parade to validate it is ok to be a wife swapper? my guess is you would say keep it to your self- that’s how I feel about gays–personwithcomment

I couldn’t care less what 2 people do in private. I just don’t care to see it in a parade.–Gil Ford

I am for gay rights and marriage and have never met a gay person I didn’t like. That said there should be No sign or anything related to sex in the parade gay or straight. Eagan in your article who gave you the right to call a veteran Mr. Hurley (a grumpy, old, poisonous man) that’s right he did as a veteran. Marty you should march as you have in the past, keeping sex out of the parade is in No way discriminatory to anyone.–kelzo90

Good grief, can the high maintence gay folks leave the rest of us alone already, we voted for your gay marrige now buzz off–unstableMic

THE ‘GAY AGENDA’

Outside of the St. Patrick Day parade which gay groups obviously use to advance their agenda, do you really think Boston is an intolerant city toward gays??? I don’t see it that way. I see many openly gay people all over town, living, working and generally going about their own business. I really don’t know, but I’ll ask, are there gay floats in the Macy’s Day Parade, the Rose Parade, the Mummers parade???? Or is this just the only grab all the press you can effort for gay groups.–Sully

It’s really time that we got rid of the Gay Pride Parade. Haven’t they pretty much achieved their agenda? I think so.–hooksie

And we gays should allow breeders in our gay pride because they’re not sexual or hedonistic enough? You’ve acheived your agenda. Perhaps you haven’t seen all the straight sluts and promiscuous straight people on prime time TV for all your family to view in its glory–Alan

Now that we know Mass Equality lied and they have ONE supposed veteran, not twenty, no real group of veterans for equality exists….do you feel the same? They obviously have an agenda and they lied to get into the parade.–catherine adair

Yeah, typical liberal. Just like that supreme dullard and racist in the White House and his corrupt and equally racist AG, you want to enforce the laws that you agree with and ignore those that don’t advance your agenda. You are exactly like Eagan. She professes to be Catholic but wants the church to change to conform to her way of thinking. Liberals are such hypocrites. A backlash is coming. We’ve becoming pretty sick and tired of liberals making up the rules as they go along and mocking the beliefs and trampling the rights of those with traditional values. Eagan, you are one dull, bitter old crone.–Aynnie

HETEROSEXUAL PRIDE

Marge, can you wear a shirt or carry a banner that says “Anti-war” or anti-abortion, no you can’t. Can you wear a shirt or carry a banner that says, “I’m a heterosexual”, no you can’t. So why can you wear a shirt or carry a banner that says “I’m gay. and you want to end a parade that’s been a tradition for how long?–Stanley

Yeah, David, so where is the “Heterosexual Pride Parade” being held this year? I can just imagine the backlash from the gay community. They would, of course, call us “hateful” and “bigots”. It’s funny how you call those who hold traditional Catholic beliefs “bigots” and twist the Pope’s words. I frankly could give a flying fig what you do in the bedroom or who you do it with but what you gays don’t get it that it gets tiresome to hear you incessantly proclaim your sexual preference and have parades proclaiming your sexual preference and try to insinuate yourselves into other peoples’ parades to proclaim your sexual preference and demand quotas for those with your sexual preference, and on and on and on…And Eagan, you are one nasty, vile old crone.–Aynnie

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade is no place for this group of renegade, agenda-driven fringe group. The gays I know want nothing to do with this group; it embarrasses them and the cause. If you want to celebrate your sexuality, do it on your own time. Never once have I felt the need to advertise my heterosexuality; I’m pretty secure in that. If gays want to be accepted then their sex should stay where it belongs – in the bedroom. Margery, call it closeted if you want, but sex between 2 consenting adults should be a private matter; no need to parade it around any street. The parade will go on, like it or not. It’s funny how you liberals like to preach tolerance – for your own views only. Yes, it truly is hard to believe it’s 2014.–lawtalka

I wouldn’t want to see heterosexuals flaunting their sexual orientation in a public parade; why do militant homosexuals feel the need to do so? Why are you so obsessed with your own sexual activity that you feel the need to force it on others? You can’t force people to approve of your behavior — and if you were really okay with that behavior yourself, you wouldn’t spend so much time demanding that everybody else declare how great it is that you’re gay.–qccitizen

They want to flaunt their homosexuality with signs and t-shirts and acting like they do in their own gay parade – there is no need for this type of behavior! I don’t want to see a heterosexual couple fondling each other in the street, so why would I want to see a homo couple doing the same? I am so sick of these agenda driven groups trying to ram their views down everyone’s throats (no pun intended). Why would they even want to be somewhere they’re not wanted? All it’s going to do is cause problems and incidents. For the first time in I don’t know how many years, I’m not going to the parade this year. And Marge, I am Irish – and am not embarrassed whatsoever with the stand the people running the parade have taken throughout the years.–Simplertimes

Marge, I said this yesterday and I’ll say it again, this parade is about celebrating St. Patrick and the Irish culture, not sexual orientation. Can I march in the Gay pride parade carrying a banner that says I’m heterosexual and proud of it…….and I support traditional marriage. You know what the difference is Marge, i wouldn’t push that, it’s not my day.–Stanley

DEMOCRATS ARE NAZIS

One more victory for the homanazis, got to admire Putin that boy is not caving to the pressure for Gay acceptance. Obama better not tangle with him it would be like going to a gun fight with water balloons.–Xsailor

sad that madge + her dumbocrat pals want people who disagree with them in jail or shut down…… ask walmart, chick fil al + mumbles ask rutgers + connie rice ask madge + st pats parade ….DEMS ARE THE CLOSEST THING TO A MODERN NAZI …..Just facts–Jerry Aldini

If you ran a business would you do anything remotly likely to tick off the gay nazi party and bring thier wrath down on you?–Tom

more NAZI like work by madge and her lib pals…If you dont agree with someone then those people should suffer and die ..Menino bans chick fil al and walmart ….Rutgers now doesnt want condi rice to speak …..now madge says shut down the family st pats parade ….THE DEMS ARE AS CLOSE TO NAZIS THAT EXIST IN AMERICA RIGHT NOW !!!!
